Move over Pokémon, Spiderman and dinosaurs!
When it comes to birthday party themes for 7-year-olds, there’s a new player in town: Chase!
Well, so says Eric Shaff of Phoenix, who has been “mildly obsessed” with the bank for more than a year.
“His current goals are to work at Chase bank and drive a Buggati,” said his mom, Charlotte Shaff, who isn’t sure how her son became fascinated with the banking giant.
“When we are driving around, he always notices the banks and yells ‘Chase Bank!’ He has been very interested in money, how much things cost and different bills.”
When Charlotte proposed the idea of celebrating Eric’s May birthday at a local branch, the Chase team donned its party-planning hats and wowed Eric and his friends with a bank-themed celebration at the Seventh Street and Glendale Avenue location in Phoenix.
Besides a cake bearing the bank logo, branch manager David Jonagan and his team prepared goody bags labeled with deposit slips with each child’s name and Chase swag such as coloring books, piggy banks, balloons, pens and zipper bags. They also gave the children the bank tour of a lifetime.
Jonagan also made up a game — #WhatIsEricSaving4 — based on Eric’s dream to own a Buggati, considered one of the most expensive cars in the world. Eric and his friends guessed the cost to buy a Buggati and what that savings plan looked like.
“It was HILARIOUS! The kids guessed so many funny things. I had a complete blast!” Jonagan said.
Charlotte said the bank team gave Eric a great experience they never expected. The children were captivated by the behind-the-scenes tour — which included the vault — and some of the kids went home asking their parents for similar parties with a bank theme.
Jonagan added “The whole team really played a part in making this event happen. I could not have been more proud of how it turned out.”
